Scenic Combat Workshop

The aim of the course is to offer students the fundamental basics of the scenic combat and provide them with the necessary tools to be able to improvise and mount a sequence of shots with bare hands.

Once the technical part has been learned, all the work will be focused on the stage reality: How to live and keep the sequence alive; how to react genuinely moment to moment; how to incorporate the text into the physical dynamics of the scene rather than “reciting” the situate and “executing” the sequence without actually living it.

Everything we do on the scene depends on the other and on the space around us. We always move in relation to something external (to reach, change, change, move something away from us).

The tools and exercises used in the course aim to develop listening, to focus all the attention out of oneself, to be able to respect the safety distance and react freely to the impulses, keeping themselves out of danger. What is interesting is not the individual actors but what happens between them.

The work is divided into:

Physical warming – Attention and relationship games – Technical training of bare hands and learning of various shots (Fists, slaps, kicks, elbows, parades, dodges, levers, collisions and falls) – Improvisation with the elements learned – Stage work with text and editing of sequences (Paying attention to the relationship with the audience and to differences in front of the camera).
